The Clifton Club

The Clifton Club was formed in 1818 to provide a venue where ‘gentlemen of means and leisure could converse and convene regularly’. This was near the parish church of St Andrews reached by Birdcage Walk.

The Club moved to it’s current home , then the Clifton Subscription Rooms and in 1852 the Clifton Club Company was formed An ornate snooker room having two superb tables, the Card room for Bridge , Chess and Backgammon, the Drawing room to meet up have a coffee and relax , the Centenary room for private meetings, family dinners or conferences , the Club’s main dining room where functions up to 100 can be accommodated, and 2 Squash courts, make up the club facilities.

In 2006 the Club elected to welcome lady members.
